Severe typhoons and torrential rains have caused dangerous conditions at multiple reservoirs across Nanning and Guigang cities in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, posing grave threats to the lives and property of downstream residents. In response to the evolving disaster situation and in accordance with the deployment requirements of the Ministry of Emergency Management, Alibaba has activated emergency flood prevention and disaster relief operations in Guangxi.
Targeting the most pressing on-site needs for nighttime lighting and resident evacuation in disaster-hit areas, Alibaba has promptly donated and deployed its first batch of 10,000 emergency lighting devices, which are being urgently transported to the affected regions. Meanwhile, the person in charge of Alibaba’s emergency logistics team has rushed to Nanning to coordinate local rescue resources and advance on-site relief work.
In addition, the Alibaba Public Welfare Platform, together with merchants participating in its Public Welfare Baby program, has launched a joint disaster relief response. The first batch of 2,500 emergency food supplies sponsored by the platform and merchants has departed for the disaster-stricken areas.
Alibaba stated that it will continue to closely monitor the flood situation, mobilize nearby resources efficiently, and provide sustained support for basic living assistance and post-disaster support for affected communities.
